Questions
Solar installation FAQs
How much is payback on a hybrid solar system in Kenya?+
Most residential hybrid systems pay for themselves in 4 to 6 years through reduced Kenya Power bills. Commercial systems using net metering often recover their cost in 3 to 5 years. Panels carry a 25-year performance warranty, so the savings keep flowing long after payback.
What does the quoted price include?+
Everything needed for a working system: tier-1 panels, hybrid inverter, lithium battery bank, mounting rails, DC and AC protection, cabling, labour and the Certificate of Compliance. We share an itemised breakdown so you can compare quotes line by line.
Which panel and battery brands do you use?+
We install tier-1 panels from Jinko, JA Solar and Longi. Inverters come from Deye and Growatt, and batteries from BYD and Pylontech. Every brand-name component is covered by its own manufacturer warranty, listed clearly in your quote.
Can my system still use Kenya Power at night?+
Yes. A hybrid system charges your battery from the sun by day, carries your home through the evening on stored power and silently switches to Kenya Power only if the battery runs low. You keep the grid as a backstop, not as your main supply.
Is GRIDBOSS licensed by EPRA?+
Yes. GRIDBOSS Power Systems is an EPRA (Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority) licensed solar contractor holding class C1, and our technicians hold class T3 certification, which covers systems of any size including grid-tied and hybrid. Installing more than 100 Wp without a licence is a criminal offence, so always verify a contractor on the EPRA register before you pay.
