What is a Certificate of Compliance and why do I need one?+
A Certificate of Compliance (COC) is the legal sign-off that an electrical installation was done by a licensed contractor and passed testing. Insurers ask for it after electrical fires, counties ask for it with building permits, and banks and landlords ask for it before finance or tenancy. Any installation without one is a liability on paper, whatever the work looks like on the wall.
What do EPRA classes A, B and C mean?+
EPRA (Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority) grades electrical contractors by the voltage and scale they may work on: class A covers high voltage and large commercial or industrial installations, class B covers medium voltage and large low voltage, and class C covers low voltage domestic and commercial work. Do I need to upgrade my DB before solar?+
Most likely, yes. A hybrid solar installation ties into your distribution board, and boards without RCD protection, spare ways or a proper earth will fail inspection. We bundle any required DB upgrade, earthing and surge protection into the solar quote so one crew does one COC-wrapped job.
Can you work on an occupied home or business?+
Yes. We phase the work: power in the morning, mess cleared before evening, and critical circuits like lighting and the fridge kept live. For shops and offices we schedule noisy board swaps outside trading hours.
